This morning, we have informed you of the information released by our Spanish colleagues, that the Yamaha YZR-M1 equipped with a V4 engine will make its first laps this week on the Ricardo Tormo circuit located in Cheste in the suburbs of Valencia.
Tonight, we can do better and tell you that this first test began today, with supporting evidence.
In fact, thanks to one of our Spanish correspondents, we managed to get hold of four short videos showing Augusto Fernandez riding a Yamaha MotoGP which, without a doubt, does not emit the usual raucous noise characteristic of the 4-cylinder in-line Crossplane.
We can therefore safely say that these are the first images of the Yamaha MotoGP equipped with a V4 engine, and especially the first video which allows you to hear its noise.
At the time of writing, even if it would indeed seem logical, it is impossible for us to certify that this debugging will really continue tomorrow, and that, as mentioned, Cal Crutchlow will make an appearance, in the absence of Andrea Dovizioso, still convalescing following a collarbone operation.
But if that's the case, and if the weather remains as mild as it is today, a mixture of gray skies and sunny spells, it might be interesting, anecdotally, to take the first lap times. However, we won't be releasing more detailed documents, out of respect for the work of the Yamaha test team.
Let's not forget, however, that the purpose of a debugging is above all to accumulate kilometers to test the reliability of the new V4 engine, the performance coming in a second stage before itself, possibly, the provision for official drivers. fabio quartararo et Alex Rins.
We'll keep you posted...
