Uccio Salucci MotoGP

Since 2015 and that famous Malaysian Grand Prix, a cold has separated the Marquez clan from the Rossi clan. Uccio Salucci, director of the Ducati VR46 team in MotoGP and friend of "The Doctor," has just put a spanner in the works, with a most daring statement. In Termas de Rio Hondo, Marc Marquez claimed his 90th career victory, becoming Angel Nieto's equal. Ahead of him, Valentino Rossi, with 115 victories, and Giacomo Agostini a little higher with 122 successes. Obviously, "Uccio" would prefer that Marc not achieve it.

Asked by GP One After the Argentine Grand Prix, Uccio spoke about the two men's achievements. While he expressed respect for Marc Marquez, he couldn't help but hope that Rossi would remain in the race history books. "He's reached 90 wins, so good for him. He's now aiming for 115 at Vale, he has a fantastic bike and team. I don't want him to exceed 115 wins, but he will get there. » he said. The animosity between the two men is still strong. As a reminder, in 2018, Uccio wanted to come to blows with Marc after the latter knocked Rossi down during the Argentine GP.

However, Uccio was also interviewed as team principal. It's clear that he's doing a good job with Ducati VR46, as Franco Morbidelli was back on the podium. « This podium has a special flavor for usWhen we hired Morbidelli last year, many criticized us. They said he didn't deserve this handlebar. This podium is therefore very important for him and for the whole team. » he continued. "Franky" is a veteran of the VR46 Academy, Valentino Rossi's development program. As a reminder, he was the first World Champion to come out of this school when he triumphed in the Moto2 field in 2017.

Uccio does not fail to place one for those who had put him down at Yamaha. « Franco deserves what he got because he spent two years at Yamaha where everyone thought he was finished; they slaughtered him.. But he didn't have all the cards in hand when he was at Yamaha. People don't know him and continue to criticize him, but we wanted to try and we were even more motivated by those who said he was finished." he concluded. This podium therefore has the taste of revenge, after more than 1400 days without getting on the box.
