Quartararo Thailand

Fabio Quartararo has had a very good start in Thailand! The Frenchman was attractive in both sessions, and went straight into Q2 with this eighth place during the Practice. The Yamaha seems to have made progress, as has the Honda. Could "El Diablo" be the troublemaker in the middle of the grid during this 2025 campaign? In any case, the signals are green : he himself was very satisfied with this first day, despite running out of fuel – which this time was not linked to a misunderstanding or an error by the team.

The running gag has been going on for a long time now: Quartararo is definitely a regular when it comes to running out of gas, but this time he has a good explanation: "I had nothing left, but it wasn't the team's fault. We had planned to do three laps, and in the end I did one more, added to the start simulations. I tried to slow down, but I couldn't reach the pits! he affirmed in the columns of GP One.

However, he was still delighted with this first day. “The sensations are already better than those felt during the tests, but I am not yet 100% confident with the front. Our goal was to get into Q2 and we did it, with a gap of just three tenths to third place.. Everything is going well, this is already what we were aiming for for 2024. Usually, when we are fast on Friday afternoon and we manage to get into Q2, we pass a milestone on Saturday" he continued. All this bodes very well.

Starts are crucial in MotoGP, especially in this era where riders are showing their teeth without waiting. Yamaha has had some setbacks in this regard; and this worried observers. Fabio Quartararo spoke on the subject: “Our bike touches everywhere, we don't have much room to maneuver. Maybe electronics would help us, but we are not that bad, even if others are in a better position" said the 2021 World Champion.

He also sees other weak points in his YZR-M1, although it is undeniably making progress. « Last year our engine was slow. Now we have made progress in this area, but we need to increase the power, because even with less aero – compared to the competitors – we are still weak in this department. We will work on this during the tests in Jerez. » he concluded.
