If the two rounds in Italy failed to Peter Acosta, Indonesian Grand Prix MotoGP allowed him to almost equal his best score of the year obtained in the USA.

After finishing 6th in the Sprint, the Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 team rookie even allowed himself to put pressure on the World Championship leader and race winner during the GP, Jorge Martin.

A simply exceptional result which boosts the morale of the Mattighofen troops at just the right time...

As usual, we report here his words during the press conference, without any formatting, even if it is translated from English.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are about to begin the post-race press conference for the Pertamina Indonesia Grand Prix at the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit, Round 15. Congratulations to Jorge Martin, race winner for Prima Pramac Racing, and Pedro Acosta, second for Red BullGASGAS Tech3, who was on the front row on the right of the grid, Pedro Acosta who is the Moto2 winner here last year, and to complete the top three today, the reigning world champion of the Ducati Lenovo Team, Pecco Bagnaia. Gentlemen, congratulations to all three, the conditions were very difficult this afternoon, it was hot, humid and very, very windy too.

Second place, a great second from the front row of the grid, for Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 driver Pedro Acosta. Pedro, you pushed really hard. As we said, the gap was down to 6/10ths of a second at one point. Was there a moment in that race where you thought you could win?
Peter Acosta : “Yes, for sure. I have been saying since Thursday that it is a good circuit for us and for KTM. I am happy because I needed to finish a race, because the last two we did in Misano I was competitive and in both I crashed. For that, yes, I tried to catch him but I arrived at a point after the 16th-17th lap where he was able to move away again. And I said to myself “OK, maybe today it is better a second place than another crash”, because we need to take a little more information.
Anyway, we have to be happy because we are finding this consistency in the top 5 and we are fighting with the Ducatis, which is not easy anyway."

I have to say, Pedro, of course you were very close to the race winner, Jorge Martin, but there is also a whole group of very strong Ducati behind you. I mean, what boost does that give you, the team and the Pierer Mobility Group?
“Of course the team and the factory deserve this result. You know, they are working like crazy to get back to the top level and we are getting closer. I want to thank the whole test team with Dani and Pol, all the people at the Mattighofen factory who are putting a lot of effort into bringing us something new, and also all the people here at the circuit who are putting their whole life into this project. For this, we are getting closer and I think they deserve even more than I do.”

And Pedro, I have to ask you, of course, right now you're under investigation for a possible tire pressure violation. What's your reaction?
“Well, I won’t be worried until something is confirmed. Anyway, I might be happier and I might even be sad. Because of that, let’s try not to think about it.”
