Lucio Cecchinello has admitted to being impressed by Johann Zarco's preparation, which he considers unique in MotoGP at the moment.
Johann zarco has been unanimously acclaimed within the LCR Honda team since his return last year. He had already competed there in the last three Grands Prix of the 2019 season, but this was a replacement. This time, he established himself as the leader of the team, but also of all the Honda riders, by being the fastest on track, race after race.
Lucio Cecchinello, the boss of LCR, stressed the maturity acquired by the French pilot in recent years, and which plays a fundamental role in his approach to Grand Prix racing and the development of the RC213V. It makes him an essential driver for the brand, but Cechinello believes that the commitment of zarco goes even beyond all of that, with a preparation that he has not yet seen in anyone else on the board.
"Johann Zarco has not only matured. In recent years, he has also surrounded himself with a group of professionals. I have never seen a driver who has worked with so many renowned specialists.", he told GP One. "Like every MotoGP rider, he has an assistant, a trainer, a nutritionist, a mechanic who looks after his training bikes, and a mental coach. Johann also trains his vision for high performance. It's a kind of eye gymnastics. It allows him to visually absorb more information in a short time, both at close range, for example on the dashboard, and at long distances. This group of specialists, who alternate at races and in the pit box, advise Johann in a very professional manner."
Thanks to the support of these specialists and the maturity of his almost 35 years, Johann zarco is much less prone to anger than in the past. He is rarely seen getting angry in his box and, despite some frustrating results, he always arrives with a smile on his face in front of journalists. A professionalism that is also highlighted Cecchinello.
"Last year, Johann sometimes exploded, but it always happened behind closed doors and when there was a source of frustration. So we were always understanding of these outbursts. I must also emphasize the fact that when a driver expresses his anger, it is not out of disrespect. It rather means that he has the absolute will to achieve the best possible result. Johann has his personality, like every athlete, and currently he has his emotions relatively under control.", he added.
