Mir Argentina

Much like his teammate Luca Marini, Joan Mir has reason to be happy after this weekend in Argentina. A fine 10th place on Sunday rewards his efforts, which he has been deploying for three seasons now to bring the Honda project back to the highest level. While he is still a long way behind Johann Zarco, the 10th and 11th places in the officials' standings are also a sign that Honda is returning as a manufacturer, which is a good omen. Joan Mir was very happy with this performance, which counts.

The 2020 MotoGP World Champion has a lot to be proud of. After two extremely difficult seasons, he's back in form and back in the points zone. "I knew that tire management would be important here, and I was in a group that allowed me to do that early on. By defending under braking, I was comfortable, and with Zarco and Bagnaia just in front, I was riding well » he confided upon arrival.

Riding with such big names must be a pleasure for him, as he was used to hovering near the top of the standings in 2020 and 2021. Unfortunately for him, the Honda's shortcomings caught up with him later on. “Then the real battle started with everyone, and I was still defending under braking, but we had to use a lot of tires to achieve that. It's quite frustrating honestly because I think I could have been more in the top 10., but we were in the middle and we were fighting with everyone" he added.

A double World Champion of his caliber cannot be satisfied with a 10th place, that's obvious, and that's why Mir would like to improve further with a view to the US Grand Prix. “Good work, but I want more, which is also positive because it shows the progress we have made" he concluded.
