He's not there. While some may claim he's taking big points in Argentina, Pecco Bagnaia was once again outclassed by Marc and Alex Marquez in qualifying and the SprintThe Italian's excellent start allowed him to easily move ahead of Johann Zarco, but after that, a significant gap only increased in front of him. We are only at the second round of the season, but already, the bleeding must stop. The Italian laughs about it, but only half-heartedly, given his comments after the Thailand Grand Prix.
Nearly four seconds. That's the gap that separated Bagnaia from Marc Marquez at the finish of the Sprint, perhaps somewhat reduced by a slackening of effort in the final meters. But visually, it was a no-brainer, and Bagnaia is the first to admit it. « Since the beginning of the season, he has made me sufferWe're working in the right direction, yes, but we have to close the gap. I keep losing a lot at Turns 6 and 11. At least I've gotten closer, because my prediction was sixth place. I need a bike that handles the throttle much better, and right now it doesn't.. I tried to use a different aero appendage to Marquez, it's the only way to compensate without losing too much in other areas." he asserted for Todocircuito at the end of this Saturday.

Yet, everything had started well. Pecco managed to grab Zarco's place at the start, then seriously threatened Alex Marquez, just like in Thailand. But it didn't last. “I started well, even though I had a hitch in fifth gear. I managed to follow them at first, but I lost too much on certain corner entries.. I'm going too far to the side and losing traction. That said, it's better in the first two sectors." he continued.

Can he face the Marquez brothers directly tomorrow, given the gap there was today? Bagnaia only half believes it: “There is a possibility of taking a step forward tomorrow. We are still too far from Marc and Alex. We've made a step forward between Thailand and here, but it's not enough. Is that worrying? If it were the eighth or ninth race, yes, it would be, but there's still time. I've read a lot about me and the team being nervous, but I don't care.. This circuit is not one of my favorites. he concluded. Let us remember that during his career, he has never yet won at Termas de Rio Hondo.
