After a Grand Prix dominated by Manuel Gonzalez in Thailand, Moto2 is holding the second round of its long season in Argentina, at the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit. The favorites are the same as two weeks ago, so Manuel Gonzalez and the riders Fantic, Barry Baltus, and Aron Canet will be in the spotlight, without excluding Diogo Moreira and Senna Agius from the equation.

Qualification 1:
Four spots are still available to join the first 14 entrants in Q2, and many are eligible to claim them. However, from the start of Q1, a handful of drivers stood out from the rest. Deniz Oncu, Celestino Vietti, and Izan Guevara took the lead.
Before the end of each of their first attempts, they are joined by Ayumu Sasaki, while Ivan Ortola threatens to enter the top-4, but still fails by a few thousandths.
After the second round of qualifying began, things accelerated. Filip Salac, who had been in the background until then, created a surprise and set the second fastest time, adding to the already long list of potential candidates for Q2.
With two minutes remaining, all the drivers on track are improving. The top four is transformed once again. Celestino Vietti now leads by two tenths of a second over Deniz Oncu and... David Alonso! Filip Salac completes the provisional top four.
This eventful Q1, however, didn't stop surprising us. As the checkered flag flew, a handful of drivers set off for a final push. At the end of the session, Celestino Vietti took the lead with a time of 1:41.410, faster than Jake Dixon's time in the morning.
Alex Escrig, Filip Salac, and Diogo Moreira completed a top four that continued to evolve over the course of the fifteen minutes. After a good start, Deniz Oncu failed to qualify for Q4, missing out by a tenth. Meanwhile, David Alonso missed out on his first Moto2 Q2 by a fraction of a second.
Qualification 2:
As has been the case since the start of the weekend, Jake Dixon set the first benchmark in Q2. The Briton quickly found some competition. Fresh from Q1, Celestino Vietti put his experience to good use to put pressure on the #96 driver.
The real threat, however, came from Manuel González. The Spaniard completed this first round of time trials in 1:41.120, smashing the lap record to take provisional pole position.
Shortly after, Jake Dixon responded, once again establishing himself as the man to beat. He was joined by Alex Escrig, who missed out by 44 seconds off his time. That was without taking into account the stunning attempt of Manuel González, who once again pushed his limits to pull off a lap that only he knows how to do in Argentina. The Spaniard clocked a time of 1:40.870, ensuring he would definitively take the lead.
Jake Dixon lost his duel with Manuel González and finished second. Marcos Ramirez surprised everyone by setting the third fastest time.
The Fantic riders surprised in a negative way during this Q2 of the Moto2 Argentine GP. Aron Canet finished only tenth, ahead of his teammate, Barry Baltus, in fifteenth.
